Tamil film producer K Rajan died by suicide at the age of 85 in Chennai

The Tamil film industry was shocked after the death of veteran producer K Rajan, who was widely known for his outspoken speeches and controversial statements at film-related events.

The 85-year-old allegedly died by suicide after jumping into the Adyar River.According to a report by Tamil OneIndia, K Rajan jumped into the river from Adyar Bridge in Chennai. Fire and rescue crews later recovered his body and transported it to the hospital. The police opened an investigation into the incident.A prominent figure in Tamil cinema, K Rajan has frequently spoken to YouTube channels and media about issues affecting the film industry.

He started his journey as a producer with Suresh Bramacharigal in 1983. Through his banner Ganesh Cine Arts, he went on to produce several films and also directed films including Unarchigal, starring Abbas and Kunal.Apart from film making, he has also played an influential role in the film business sector.

In 2000, he served as the President of the Chennai Film Distributors Association. His son, Prabhukanth, also entered the Tamil film industry as an actor.K Rajan was particularly known for his frank and courageous speeches at audio launches and public events.
