Seeing audiences, including Chinese and French viewers, connect emotionally with the film despite not understanding the language was truly amazing. They became emotional after watching it and interacted warmly with us.
Moments like this make me proud that people all over the world appreciate our Gujarati culture and language. I feel grateful and proud to represent Gujarati cinema on this prestigious global platform. When asked how Gujarati language and culture shaped his journey to Cannes, Ankit said, “I remember when I was a child, there was always pressure to learn English. I studied in a Gujarati medium school while my brothers were studying English, and I often felt that if I did not learn English, I would not be able to achieve anything in life. At that time, I did not understand the value of our language and culture. But today, I truly believe that Gujarati language and culture brought me here Cannes.”
We did not bring the culture here, it already exists, and that is why we are here today. The Gujarati language and culture mean everything to me, and I give them credit for my journey.”
