Amid constant reports of their breakup, an old interview with Mouni Roy and Sooraj Nambiar has resurfaced online, revealing candid details about their relationship journey.
While the actress, known for films like ‘Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva’ and shows like ‘Naagin’, was sure to settle down, Suraj admitted that marriage was never part of his plan initially.Speaking to Bombay Times, Suraj said, “For a long time, I was against the idea of marriage. However, after living with it for a year, I must say it is quite peaceful, and I would recommend it.”
He further revealed that Mouni was clear about her intentions from the beginning of their relationship.
When Mouni Roy drew a clear line
According to Suraj, after dating for a few years, Mouni decided that she no longer wanted uncertainty in their relationship. Recalling that phase, he said: “Mouni was very clear that she wanted to get married very early. After two years of dating, she clearly said it was either this way (marriage) or the fast way.”
He admitted that he kept putting off the decision for a while before he finally realized what he really wanted. “She kept buying time. One day, she gave me an ultimatum and I realized that if I didn’t marry her, I would lose her. That’s when I realized we had to get married because I knew my life would be better with her,” Suraj added.
How their busy careers helped their relationship
Mooney, who has also appeared in projects like “Gold” and “Made In China,” previously spoke about how their demanding professional schedules have really strengthened their bond.
The actress explained that they both consciously made time for each other despite the hectic routine.“What works for us is the fact that we are both very busy with our careers,” Mooney said. She added: “So, the moments we spend with each other, we make the most of them. There is a conscious effort to make use of this time positively.”The actress also admitted that their relationship was not without disagreements, but it developed over time.
“We’ve grown a lot in this relationship. It’s been a great journey. We’ve had our fair share of arguments. But today we’re at a point where we can be with each other without complaining, be ourselves and be happy,” she said.
Sooraj spoke about adjusting to life in Mumbai
Suraj also spoke about his hesitation regarding shifting his base to Mumbai after marriage. He admitted the move was stressful at first, but credited Mooney for helping him settle comfortably into the city and into her social circle.“I also had a lot of concerns about moving partly to Mumbai. I thought it would be difficult, but I saw Mouni putting in a lot of effort to make me feel comfortable here. Now, her friends are my friends and vice versa.” He also hinted that the couple was planning to collaborate professionally in the future and enjoyed spending time together.
