Disney+ show The Punisher: One last kill It felt like a form of punishment to some fans.
The well-reviewed special was plagued by a sound mixing issue, and the main stunt shot was mocked for seeming unfinished (even though there was more to the story…).
First, fans said that Disney+’s presentation was affected by audio mixing issues, especially low dialogue volume. “I couldn’t hear anything audio wise Punisher “Private,” one wrote. “Surround speakers are misconfigured,” another wrote. “The center channel is coming out the back and the levels are also shaky.”
The streamer acknowledged the issue, replying to several fans on X on Wednesday: “Thank you for reaching out and letting us know you’re not experiencing any sound while watching.” The Punisher: One last kill. The good news is that our team is aware of this exact issue and is working on a solution as we speak. Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Well, actually, it’s funny you ask…
A visual effects moment shows gun-packing guard Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) being pushed out of a building and landing on a silver box. Except Bernthal doesn’t look quite like him. Some fans said the actor instead resembles a movie character from the early PlayStation era whose limbs robotically snap on impact. You can judge that for yourself below.
Some comments: “Really looks like a GTA cutscene”… “Looks like a beta version of Joel’s cutscene [PlayStation’s] The last of us“… “Marvel ‘accidentally’ dropping unfinished VFX in 2026 is crazy – Jon Bernthal is here teasing a God-tier Punisher type but they hit him with PS3 ragdoll physics.”
But a source close to the production says Hollywood Reporter That this is TRUE In-camera shot. Bernthal ran the fall start, and his businessman took over the shot. However, there are some visual effects, which may explain some of the twists – the stuntman’s face has been replaced with Bernthal’s face.
As VFX fans become more sophisticated, and AI clips spread across the Internet, spotting VFX bugs has become an online hobby (and sometimes, a fake VFX shot turns out to be real anyway).
The special was praised by critics and fans One last kill It has a score of 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience rating of 91 percent. The special is now streaming on Disney+.
The Punisher: One last kill It was released on Tuesday as a special episode. One last kill The Punisher story continues after 2017 Punisher The series and character continue in the first season of Daredevil: Born again. The character will appear next Spider-Man: A Brand New Day.
