A local BJP youth wing leader is among two brothers arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Jamua Ramgarh town of Jaipur district in connection with NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, a senior Rajasthan Police officer said on Wednesday.

“Dinesh Bewal and his brother Manjilal Bewal were traced to receive the guess sheet containing 120 questions for NEET-2026 from a person, named Yash Yadav, from Haryana. They bought it for $15 lakh and then sold it to a number of students in Sikar. “We arrested him on Monday for interrogation, while the CBI arrested them this morning and took them to Delhi,” a senior officer from the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) said on condition of anonymity.
The SOG, which was probing the case before the CBI was ordered to take over the investigations, also found that four children of Dinesh’s two brothers had cleared the NEET exam last year. He added that two of them attended a government medical college, while the other two were studying medicine at a private college.
“Dinesh’s son Rishi, who appeared for NEET this year, has eloped with his cousin Aman, who cleared the exam last year. We suspect Dinesh gave the paper to his son as well. It is also possible that they attempted some irregularities in the NEET exam the previous year. We are looking for them,” the SOG officer added.
The arrests sparked a political battle in the state with the Congress attacking the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, saying Dinesh Bewal, one of the two brothers arrested by the CBI, had been an active official in the BJP’s youth wing for years.
“Dinesh Bewal, who was arrested by the CBI in connection with NEET-2026 exam paper leak, is a BJP functionary. Is this the reason why BJP did not file an FIR for a long time? This incident exposes this party. Is BJP protecting the culprits who are ruining the future of the youth of this country?,” former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said in a post on X along with a news report on his alleged role and a poster of Dinesh, who identified him as a local youth wing leader. In BJP, wishing people on Diwali.
Jamua Ramgarh BJP district leader said Dinesh was the secretary of the BJP’s youth wing in 2014 but was not very active in the party.
“Dinesh and Mangilal were in the money lending business for a long time. We have no idea about his affiliation to any other political party or any anti-social activities. But these two brothers have been residing in Sikar for the past five to six years. On Monday evening, the Special Operations Group arrested them from their home in Jamua Ramgarh around 7 pm,” he added.
Sure enough, Dinesh’s Facebook profile shows several pictures with Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar in 2021 and some recent pictures with local BJP MLA Mahendra Pal Meena. Three days ago, Meena also shared a picture of Dench on Facebook, wishing him on his birthday.
