Arunachal Pradesh’s Itanagar Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday said his government has launched a comprehensive district-level review exercise aimed at strengthening governance, addressing manpower shortage and improving public service delivery mechanism.

Khandu made the statement in a social media post after chairing the first phase of the review process, which covered the newly created districts of Kamli, Lower Siang, Baki Kesang, Lipa Rada, Shi-Yomi, Ki Paniyur and Bichum.
He described the exercise as a major step towards building a stronger, more responsive and people-centred administration.
The Prime Minister said that the district-level review process will continue in multiple stages, covering all regions of the state.
“The first phase of the district-level review process began with a four-hour intensive meeting to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation on the ground and functional status of the newly created districts,” Khandu said.
The Chief Minister said the review focused on manpower gaps, departmental vacancies, administrative infrastructure, issues requiring state-level policy intervention, and overall preparedness of the region to ensure effective governance and better delivery of public services.
According to him, detailed discussions were held with elected legislators, deputy commissioners and heads of departments in the respective regions to determine immediate administrative requirements and long-term development priorities.
He added: “The review process will continue at the district level until the fourth stage, covering all regions of the state, with the aim of building a stronger, more responsive and people-centred administration.”
The review process assumes importance as several newly created districts in Arunachal Pradesh are still in the process of strengthening administrative infrastructure and filling up vacancies in key government departments.
The officials said the initiative aims to ensure that the benefits of decentralized administration reach people at the grassroots level by improving governance mechanisms, accelerating the implementation of social welfare plans and enhancing coordination between departments.
