Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) founder TTV Dhinakaran on Tuesday expelled MLA S Kamaraj for “anti-party activities”, soon after he praised Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on the Assembly floor.

Kamaraj, the only AMMK legislator to win from Mannargudi in the last Assembly elections, praised Vijay during the second day of the Assembly session and expressed confidence in his leadership.
“Many leaders and many young people have come to this council. The future of the country is in the hands of the youth. Our Prime Minister is a good young man and I have confidence that he will deliver excellent administration,” Kamaraj said.
Referring to the recent political developments, he added: “There have been some bitter incidents in the past due to political circumstances. Today, only Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay can provide effective administration.”
These statements sparked a sharp reaction from Dinakaran, who accused Kamaraj of betraying party and alliance workers. In a statement, Dinakaran said Kamaraj’s behavior was against party discipline and announced his expulsion from the AMMK.
“Kamaraj’s action is a huge betrayal of party workers, alliance cadres and people who voted for him,” he said.
This development comes days after Dinakaran allegedly forged a letter submitted to Governor Rajendra Arlikar expressing his support for forming the government. He claimed that the original message supporting the AIADMK was edited to show support for the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, and accused the ruling party of “horse trading”.
