A man was reportedly detained on Tuesday at the site of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam government after a few live bullets were found on him, according to reports.
Live bullets were found during the security check at the entrance of the Veterinary College in Khanapara, where Himanta Biswa Sharma was sworn in as Assam’s chief minister for the second consecutive term.
According to police, the man was detained for questioning and was taken to Bassta police station, news agency PTI reported. However, no weapons were recovered from him.

A police official was quoted as saying, “An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovery operation and whether there is any security threat.”
57-year-old Himanta was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at a ceremony held at Khanapara Veterinary Ground in Guwahati.
The incident occurred a few minutes before the governor was set to administer the oath to Himanta, along with several new council members in attendance.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. More than 40 NDA CM members and their deputies also attended the event.
Besides Himanta, four MLAs, including BJP’s Rameswar Teli and Ajantha Neog, AGP’s Atul Bora and BPF’s Charan Boro, took oath as ministers.
The ceremony comes after the NDA won a record 102 of the 126 seats in the assembly, including 82 seats for the BJP. The BJP’s allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), secured 10 seats each.
