Surrey Police Service (SPS) said foreign national Prabhjot Singh was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of involvement in criminal activity related to extortion.
After his arrest, officers exchanged information with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), which subsequently led to his removal from the country following an immigration investigation. The police have now published his photo to gather more information about his activities and potential associates. The SPS said in a statement that the photo was published to assist in ongoing investigations into the extortion crisis in the region.Authorities said they are seeking information from the public, including witnesses or potential associates who may have interacted with Singh while he was in Canada. Police believe such information could help identify criminal networks linked to violent extortion cases.A separate account from the police statement described Singh as having been “deported from Canada” following a CBSA immigration operation launched following an SPS investigation.
The police said that this action came after his arrest and the exchange of intelligence information between the agencies.Surrey has recorded 91 reports of extortion and 16 related shooting incidents since the beginning of 2026. Identifying lower-level suspects is key to uncovering organized networks believed to operate within Canada and internationally.SPS also reminded the public of a $250,000 racketeering reward fund, established in 2025, that remains active for information leading to arrests and convictions in racketeering cases.
