Second weekend performance of “Kara”

“Kara” saw a healthy trend during its second weekend.

On the 10th day, which was the second Saturday, the film collected Rs 1.18 crore. Collections increased to Rs 1.33 crore on the 11th, second Sunday. On day 12, second Monday, the film added Rs 77 lakh. With these numbers, the film’s total net gross in India stands at Rs 34.50 crore.

Kara’s story is set against the Gulf War

“Kara” takes place in 1991 during the Gulf War between Iraq and the United States. The conflict has led to severe fuel shortages in Ramanathapuram, a coastal town in Tamil Nadu state.

With gasoline and diesel scarce, Karasamy is forced to reconsider his dangerous past. He once left that life behind. Over the course of 16 tense days, he risks everything to protect the people who depend on him.ETimes’ review of the film states, “Dhanush nails the confident slow burn. Where the film loses ground is in its commitment to Dhanush’s sentiment factory. Land, fathers, fatherhood and ancestral pride: similar shortcomings in his last film Idli Kadai.”

Every emotional thread is pulled, and after a while it feels more like a pattern than a feeling. Vignesh loves his symbolism too (and so does Dhanush), and there’s a system missing here that would have given the kinkier instincts more room to breathe.

Micro predictability bites as well. Points, glances, slow turns, you can register most of them three beats early.”Disclaimer: Box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources. All figures are approximate unless explicitly stated, providing a fair representation of the film’s box office performance.
