Upcoming Prime Video series Sex criminals He found the way out.
Nia Dacosta (That’s it, Candyman) The first two episodes of the series will be helmed by creators Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon and Tze Chun. DaCosta will also serve as an executive producer on the series, the Amazon-owned streamer announced ahead of its upfront presentation on Monday.
Sex criminals It is the second television project that DaCosta has signed on in recent weeks. She’s also an executive producer and has a story credit (with Ozark(Bill Dubuque) on Hulu pilot Southern bastards.
Prime Video gave a serial order to Sex criminals In January. Based on the popular Image Comics title by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, the series will star Imogen Poots (This is the outer range) and John Reynolds (Search Party, Stranger Things); Nanjiani will also have an on-screen role.
The show’s description says: “Susie (Potts) is an ordinary girl with an extraordinary ability: When she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets John (Reynolds), who has the same gift. So they do what any other couple having sex would do, which is stop time: They rob banks.”
Amazon MGM Studios is producing Sex criminals. Nanjiani and Gordon executive produce through Winter Coat Films. Chun also executive produces, as do Winter Coat’s Dani Melia, LuckyChap’s Dani Gorin, Faction, Zdarsky, and DaCosta. LuckyChap’s Louie Hayes is a producer.
Along with 2021 Candy man and calmDaCosta also co-wrote and directed Wonders in 2023. She is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, Shelter PR, and Del Shaw.
