“Pink city, blue result. Khama Ghanaian,” Gill posted on social media, walking around their backyard.

The Giants dominated the contest from the start having scored 229/4 in 20 overs. Gill led by example with an elegant 84, while opener Sai Sudharsan continued his fine form with 55. The duo installed a strong 118-run opening stand that laid the foundation for Gujarat’s highest total of the season. Gill brought up his fourth half-century of the campaign in just 30 balls as Gujarat tore apart Rajasthan’s bowling attack during the power play. Sudharsen, who has already scored a century this season, looked fluent again before falling to youngster Yash Raj Ponga. Late fireworks from Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia ensured Gujarat crossed the 200-run mark comfortably. Sundar remained unbeaten with 37 off 20 balls, smashing three sixes, while Tewatia finished strongly with two maximums in the final.

Rajasthan’s chase started with a bang thanks to 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made 36 deliveries from just 16 deliveries. But once the teenager left, the Gujarat bowlers tightened their grip. Rashid Khan turned the game decisively with a brilliant 4/33 passing, penetrating the Rajasthan midfield with his variations and control. Kagiso Rabada scored twice, while Jason Holder rounded off the innings with three late wickets as Rajasthan were bowled out for 152. The convincing win lifted Gujarat to second place on the table and achieved their biggest win on goal difference
