“I felt like crap”; Neetu Kapoor talks about treatment after Rishi Kapoor's death

Neetu Kapoor sparked the conversation after she candidly revealed that she doesn’t believe in therapy and that after her husband Rishi Kapoor’s death in 2020, close friendships and returning to work did much more to her healing than any session on a therapist’s couch.

The veteran actress has been characteristically candid about her personal philosophy on grief and mental health support.

Neetu Kapoor says she doesn’t believe in treatment

Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast ‘All About Her’, Neetu Kapoor didn’t mince words when she shared her perspective on occupational therapy. “Honestly, I don’t believe in therapists. I believe in friends. You should have four or five close friends that you can really talk to,” she said, explaining that human connection, not clinical intervention, is what she turns to in difficult times.

Neetu Kapoor opens up about what happened when she tried treatment

Despite her reservations, Neetu Kapoor revealed that she briefly explored therapy after Rishi Kapoor’s death, at the request of those around her. But this experience only reinforced her doubts. She said: “When Rishi died, people asked me to go to a therapist. I was in a very bad state and I spoke to one, but I kept asking myself: ‘What am I doing here?’ As long as I am not mentally strong, what can therapy do? They tell you to meditate, calculate numbers, do this and that.”

.. To me, it seemed like nonsense. You have to give yourself time. You have to decide when you want to get strong and move forward.”
