RJ Balaji denies rumors of Suriya delaying 'Karuppu'; He says the trailer will arrive in time

Karuppu director RJ Balaji has finally responded to the rumors surrounding the film’s release delay. He confirmed that Suriya’s film will hit theaters as planned on May 14. The film has already received the censor certificate and fans are now eagerly waiting for the trailer release.

Interestingly, the trailer was recently banned, but the team decided to wait for the right moment before releasing it. The makers reportedly want the trailer to fully grab the audience’s attention and “capture the hearts of the audience”.

RJ Balaji and his team are waiting for the right moment

In a recent video message shared on social media, RJ Balaji explained the reason for the trailer delay. “Next week, we will be busy with the release of Karuppu. The trailer is ready. I strongly believe you all will love it,” he said.

He added that the current political climate and election-related discussions could distract from the trailer if it were released immediately. “We are waiting for the right clarity and the right time,” he said.

“You’ll get a trailer exactly the way you want it,” he added, promising a solid promotional cut. His emotional line, “Karuppan kooda irukaan… nammalai nalla paathukkuvaan,” has already gone viral among fans online.

RJ Balaji talks about the film’s delay

Earlier, RJ Balaji spoke candidly about why the film is taking longer than expected to complete. He revealed that the film was initially planned for a Diwali release, but production delays pushed the schedule further. He explained, “These delays helped us correct many mistakes.” Although January and February release dates have been discussed, it is strongly believed that the film needs a festive, family-friendly release window.

“This is a kind of festival film. Families should enjoy it together in theatres,” he said. According to him, releasing the film during exams, election campaigns or heavy political seasons would have affected the reach of the film and the public mood around it.

‘Karuppu’ aims to make it as a summer festival artist

‘Karuppu’ features a strong supporting cast including Trisha Krishnan, Swasika, Shivada, Yogi Babu and Indrans. With the release date set for May 14, the team is currently busy with final stage promotions and release work. Fans are now expecting the trailer to be announced very soon after the political buzz has settled. “We want the trailer and the film to reach people in the best way possible,” said RJ Balaji, adding to the excitement for what is being promoted as a complete summer family entertainer.
