'Kadey v nhi': Diljit Dosanjh shuts out the noise of Punjab politics, says he is happier with entertainment

Diljit Dosanjh firmly shut down pleas to enter Punjab politics, saying “Kadey v Nhi” and reiterating his focus on entertainment. The actor-musician, who is currently busy with films and his Aura tour, recently made headlines for addressing pro-Khalistani protesters at a concert and speaking about Indian history on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Diljit Dosanjh, who often champions Punjab on the global stage, has made it clear that politics is not on his agenda. When asked to step in as the ‘new face’ of Punjab politics, the actor-musician politely but firmly dismissed the suggestion as ‘never’.

His remarks come shortly after he addressed pro-Khalistani protesters at a concert and spoke about Punjab’s history during an appearance on “The Jimmy Fallon Show.”

The appeal that started it all for Diljit Dosanjh

An article in Punjabi Tribune titled “Could Diljit Dosanjh be the new political face of Punjab?” He highlighted a public appeal by a group of civil society members urging the actor and singer to enter politics. The group, which includes retired soldiers and individuals from various fields and is led by former bureaucrat SS Boparai, reportedly feels that Diljit should take on a leadership role, largely because he has never sought to do so.

Diljit Dosanjh responded resolutely

Diljit responded to the post by rejecting the appeal and stating that he preferred to focus on his work in acting and music. He wrote, “Kadey v Nhi… Mera Kam Entertainment Karna. (Never. My job is entertainment. I am very happy in my line of work. Thank you very much.”) His response sparked reactions from fans, with one commenting: “Thank you! Don’t waste your life’s purpose in chasing politics. You will lose yourself in that dirty space,” while another said: “Good response.

Diljit Dosanjh has a busy schedule

Diljit was last seen in the Punjabi film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ in 2025 and in the Hindi film ‘Border 2’ this year. He is next set to appear in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, alongside Vedang Raina, Sharvari Wagh and Naseeruddin Shah. The actor and singer has also been busy with the Aura Tour, performing tracks from his 2025 album.

Diljit Dosanjh’s emotional moment with Jimmy Fallon

Recently, the actor and musician appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, where he spoke about the painful history of Indians being banned from Canada.

Reflecting on one of the concert’s historic moments, he said, “This stadium we did in Vancouver… like in 1914, our people first came to Canada; they wouldn’t let us come and go to Canada. And this stadium is just two kilometers away from the Guru Nanak Jahaza Komagata Maru incident.”

So, it’s a big thing for us now, 55,000 people in the only stadium there, just two kilometers away; She wouldn’t let us come. And now, here we are, man.

That’s why he’s amazing.”The star also made headlines when he boldly confronted protesters waving pro-Khalistani flags at one of his concerts, telling them: “If you still have a problem sit across from someone on TV… jain jande dikhani dilkhai chalo (then keep waving as many flags as you want).”
