But the thing that really saved my life is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well. So I hope you get your screenings done. I hope your colonoscopies and breast exams and prostate exams save your life.”

In May 2026, he shared a new update for X, revealing that recent PET scans showed he was now in remission from both cancers. However, he also spoke about the difficult side effects of the radiation, including losing 45 pounds and not being able to eat solid food for months.
“What you’re seeing are the side effects of the intense radiation I went through for my throat cancer,” Dave said in the video. “I haven’t been able to eat solid food for months. So I lost 45 pounds, and that’s what you can see. It affected my ability to speak. Some of you said my voice was different.”
