Just two weeks before hosting the final episode of the CBS show Late show, Hollywood Reporter Cover star Stephen Colbert was the toast of the evening THRThe Most Powerful People in New York media gala, presented by the History Channel, at Daniel Boulud’s Daniel on Thursday evening in Manhattan.
Colbert embraced his co-star Gayle King shortly after their arrival. While King was taking photos on the red carpet, Colbert jumped in and joined her in a few fun shots. Later, he posed solo, giving off some of his best male model-like looks, before he was spotted chatting with other guests near the bar, then making his way to the main party room. There, he held court and could be seen in deep conversation with Rita Wilson as well as catching up with Andy Cohen. THR Editor-in-Chief Meyer Roshan and Boulud, with whom Colbert spent a suitably warm moment near a fondue station.

King sang Colbert’s praises of THR On the red carpet, saying, “I love everything about him. I’ve been on his show so many times. The intelligence that he has, the intelligence that he has, there’s no one like him. And I can’t wait to see what he does in the next chapter because we all know that Steven’s not done yet.”
King was ready to celebrate, briefly dancing to Solange’s “Losing You” as she left the red carpet and headed to the party area. She is later seen pursuing Billy Eichner and Rosanna Scotto.

Wilson and Eichner also spoke at length about their admiration for Colbert, with Wilson admitting that despite their friendship, she had never appeared on his show.
“The timing was never right because there were these rules, so if you made one show, you couldn’t make another,” she said. “But I know Stephen personally to some degree, and he’s a man of integrity, and I’m in such awe of his faith. And he’s funny, man. He’s so funny. You can’t not have that humor in the world. But I think he’ll continue to show up and be exactly himself, for the good of all of us.”
After their long conversation Thursday night, maybe something is afoot.

Earlier on the red carpet, todayDaly, who represents the NBC morning show, met Cohen and was recently hired Vogue magazine Editor Chloe Maley showed her punctuality, arriving just as the party was starting at 6.30pm
CBS Evening News Host Tony Dokoupil and his wife, MS NOW anchor Katie Tur, arrived about an hour later, and Tur was later seen with a group that included Eichner and MS NOW’s Ari Melber.

Bravo president Francis Berwick, who attended with Cohen, talked about preparing to give Kathy Helton an Icon Award at an upcoming event, while elsewhere, the A&E team, including communications chief Michael Finney, still glammed up from a HistoryTalks event in Philadelphia with all the living former presidents.
The packed event at the Upper East Side restaurant saw guests shoulder to shoulder in the lobby as they made their way toward the main dining room — which had been transformed into more of a cocktail party setting for the evening — where they met fellow media stars enjoying appetizers and desserts as well as a cheese and fondue station. Inside the intimate, dimly lit space, the tables were covered with white tablecloths and candles, plus of course, THRNew York case. Pictures from the issue were circulated on video screens inside the restaurant.
Melber was among those who praised the “amazing food.”
“You go to parties in New York, and they’re great. A lot of times the food isn’t the focus,” he said. “THR They did it here at Daniel’s, one of the most famous restaurants in the country, and they didn’t skimp on the appetizers.
The event was organized by Harley Viera Newton, and Boulud himself joined her behind the turntables for part of the evening. Guests enjoyed a decade-long collection of hits such as Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” Mark Ronson and Lily Allen’s “Oh My God,” Anita Ward’s “Ring My Bell,” Olivia Deen’s “Man I Need,” and The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.”

As the evening ended, many of the TV media stars, especially the morning show hosts, left, but Kamala Harris’ daughter, Ella Emhoff, was still greeting other guests enthusiastically.
