Suvendu Adhikari was on Friday elected as the legislative party president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), paving the way for him to be sworn in as chief minister of West Bengal.

The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP members is scheduled to be held on May 9 and will be held at the Brigade Parade Ground.
The main meeting to select the next West Bengal Chief Minister was chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah in Kolkata.
