'This is all about election': Immigration attorneys on Ken Paxton's investigation into 30 H-1B 'ghost offices'

Immigration lawyers said Ken Paxton’s recent actions against H-1Bs were motivated by the election.

Immigration attorneys Rahul Reddy and Emily Newman responded to the recent announcement of an investigation into 30 North Texas businesses by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and commented that it is all about the upcoming election, as the state’s attorney general has been for a long time, but these surprise announcements are only coming now.Tekpro IT LLC, Fame PBX LLC, 1st Ranking Technologies LLC, Qubitz Tech Systems LLC, Blooming Clouds LLC, Virat Solutions Inc., Oak Technologies Inc., Techpath Inc., and Techquency LLC are some of the companies under investigation for allegedly operating ghost offices, meaning there are no H-1B employees at their office addresses.“I am taking legal action as part of my investigation into approximately 30 North Texas companies suspected of H-1B visa fraud.

“I want to thank @SaraGonzalesTX for her efforts in exposing H-1B fraud across the state,” Paxton wrote, tagging Texas journalist and whistleblower Sarah Gonzales.Reddy said that if H-1B visa holders encounter the Spanish lady (Sara Gonzalez) questioning them, they should just say “No hablo español” and not engage with her because she only targets Indians and H-1B visa holders.“They say there are no jobs, and then they say Indians are taking these jobs,” Reddy said.

“So it’s not clear what they’re trying to say other than they hate India,” the Indian-origin immigration lawyer said about the continued targeting of Indians in Texas.Speaking about “ghost offices,” Newman said it is quite normal for H-1B workers not to be found in the offices of those who have hired them as they are assigned to the clients’ location and this must be stated in the LCA.Paxton is doing all this because of the election because he’s running against John Cornyn for the Senate, and they’re racing to the bottom when it comes to immigration, Newman said.
