Officers were called to a domestic incident at a property on Sterncourt Road in Frenchay early Sunday morning. One of the callers reported that a man known to them forced his way into the house, and minutes later warned that he believed he was carrying an explosive device. At approximately 6:32 a.m., an explosion occurred at the property, Sky News reported, citing police.The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Jo Shaw and her former partner Ryan Kelly, 41.While both died from their injuries, police confirmed that Shaw’s death is being treated as a homicide based on the current findings. Authorities also said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.Three others, including a child, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.The police revealed that there had been prior contact with the victim regarding domestic incidents, which led to her being referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Specially trained officers support the victim’s family.Emergency services, including bomb disposal experts, conducted extensive searches to secure the area.Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, although most residents were later allowed to return.Officials confirmed that the explosion was believed to have been intentional but was not being treated as terrorism-related.Investigations are still ongoing, and the forensic analysis of the device has not yet been completed.
