The fifth (and likely final) season of Bear It’s not out yet, but fans of the show can get a taste of the show before the season premiere.
The show dropped a surprise preview episode Tuesday on Hulu. The hour-long episode, titled “Gary,” follows Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Mickey (Jon Bernthal) on a trip to Gary, Indiana, before the events of the main series. (It can be searched on Hulu under the episode title.)
Moss-Bachrach announced the episode on Instagram on Tuesday. He and Bernthal – who currently star in the adaptation Afternoon dog day On Broadway – The episode was co-written and directed by The Bear creator Christopher Storer.
“Making this happen was a dream come true,” Moss Bachrach wrote in his post. “Thank you to the beautiful people of Gary, Indiana, and as always Chicago, Illinois.”
As for Bear In itself, it’s expected to premiere in the summer (all four previous seasons premiered in June). It had been widely assumed — including by members of the show’s cast — that the Emmy Award-winning FX series would end with season five. “Everyone knows this is the end of the show,” Jamie Lee Curtis said in a red carpet interview. Storer originally planned a four-season arc for the series, as lead Jeremy Allen White has said in previous interviews. FX, the company behind the Hulu series, has picked up a fifth season a week after Season 4 premieres in June 2025.
BearThe first three seasons of the series won 21 Emmy Awards, including 2023 Outstanding Comedy Series and acting honors for Moss-Bachrach, Curtis, White, Ayo Edebiri, Lisa Colon-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal. The fourth season will compete in this year’s Emmy race, and the final season will be eligible in 2027.
