A high-powered explosion occurred in a two-wheeler outside the headquarters of the Border Security Forces (BSF) in Punjab district of Jalandhar on Tuesday evening.

The explosion, which occurred around 8 p.m., sparked panic on the busiest road outside the Border Security Force headquarters in the city of Punjab, which connects the main city to the Amritsar-New Delhi national highway.
The causes behind the explosion have not yet been confirmed.
The impact of the explosion can be measured by the scattering of the wreckage of the Honda Activa car a few meters around the crime scene, in addition to damaging the traffic light pole.
Jalandhar District Police cordoned off the entire area, with senior police officials along with forensic experts, dogs and bomb squads reaching the spot for extensive investigations.
Local residents told police that they heard a loud explosion caused by two wheels, which immediately ignited fires.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said the investigation began as a preliminary phenomenon, and no crime or evidence of use of any kind of explosives has emerged so far.
“We have cooperated with Border Security Force teams, who are working with our forensic experts to find out the exact cause of the explosion. Forensic teams are collecting evidence and vital samples from the scene,” CB Randhawa said.
She added that they were questioning Gurpreet Singh, the owner of the two-wheeler. She added: “The owner was told that the mechanical service on his car was due. We are checking the very fine details of the case.”
“The detailed statement on the causes of the explosion and fire will be issued once the preliminary investigation is over,” CP Randhawa said.
A police official said that the driver of the vehicles was working for a delivery company and parked his car outside the Border Security Forces headquarters.
“The driver told that he was returning after delivering an order at the Border Guard Force headquarters when the explosion occurred,” an official said.
The incident has led to panic among the security agencies as Chief Minister Bhagwant Man is scheduled to visit Jalandhar during his Shukrana Yatra on Wednesday and will stay at his official residence in Old Baradari.
