“Hot Spot,” director Noomi Rapace’s sci-fi thriller, will have its world premiere at Fantasia

The Fantastia Film Festival unveiled the first wave of films for its 2026 edition this summer, led by the world premiere of director Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s sci-fi thriller. Hotspot.

Focus Features previously picked up the film starring Noomi Rapace, Andrei Konopka and Rika Kirishima and about a private eye investigating a murder case in a near-future community for an August 21 theatrical release.

Fantasia, in its 30th edition running from July 16 to August 2 in Montreal, has also booked the world premieres of Jenn Wexler’s film. Becky’s last temptation, The third film in the independent action thriller series Becky Starring Lulu Wilson, Kate Siegel, and Neil Patrick Harris; Casper Calle There is no rest for the wicked, A bizarre vampire thriller starring Igor Vened and Pilo Asbæk; and Casey Walker’s sci-fi thriller main bodies, Where twin actors Emma and Ian Ho play two children who grew up in isolation in an automated house.

Fantastia, which is offering prizes as part of the juried Cheval Noir competition, will make additional lineup announcements in the coming months.
