The Tipra Mutha Party (TMP) on Tuesday appointed Roniel Debbarma as its new Executive Member (CEM), after he won the Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections for the second time on April 17.

Debbarma replaced former CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, while Bhaba Ranjan Reang replaced Jagadish Debbarma as TTAADC president. They will be sworn to secrecy on Wednesday.
“The swearing-in ceremony will be held tomorrow and then I will start working for the people. Road connectivity, drinking water, education and health will be our first priority. Let us see how much work can be done within the limited funds sent by the state government,” Ronil said.
Referring to allegations of mismanagement of funds in TAADC, Roniel said, “We were saying…if they (state government) are sending enough money, they should sanction memos and make them public. If they have proof of their allegations, they should take action. They remember raising allegations against us only during elections.”

After winning the TTAADC polls for the second time, the TMP announced a comprehensive reform of the district council system.
