Bob Greenblatt returns to NBCUniversal via a first-look deal with Universal Television. Greenblatt was president of NBC Entertainment until September 2018.
The reunion comes through Greenblatt’s production company, The Green Room, and will be the first project under the agreement the lies i tell, Adapted from Julie Clark’s 2022 novel. Ken Olin will serve as lead executive producer. Clark, John Woo, and Roxanne Olin will also executive produce the project.
The lies I tell Meg follows, “The con artist who slides in next to you and tells you exactly what you need to hear, and by the time she’s finished, you’ll probably have lost everything,” as the book’s description says. “Kat Roberts has been waiting 10 years for the woman who turned her life upside down to return. Now that she has, Kat is determined to be the one to expose her. But as the two women grow closer, Kat’s old assumptions begin to unravel, leaving Kat to wonder who Meg’s real target is.”
“Bob is a highly respected creative force in the industry. Welcoming him back to Universal Television is both exciting and fitting,” Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television, said in a statement. “His taste, vision and relationships have shaped some of television’s most successful shows, and we can’t wait to collaborate with him on what comes next.”
From 2011 to 2018, Greenblatt oversaw all primetime, late night, and scripted daytime programming for NBC, as well as Universal Television, Universal Television Alternative Studio, and Universal Stage Productions. This was it This is us, the blacklist and The good place era. Before his days at NBC, Greenblatt served as president of Showtime, where he oversaw programming Dexter, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, Rude and ca. After NBC, Greenblatt ran HBO and produced Broadway shows.

Wu is the head of video content at The Green Room. He was previously Vice President of Film and Television at Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
