Jeff Bezos wants to sell his prized possession, Kuro, a 417-foot luxury yacht that contains a wooden mermaid statue of Lauren Sanchez.
Page Six reports that Jeff Bezos is silently putting his $500 million luxury yacht Koru, one of the largest sailing yachts in the world, up for sale because it is too big. The luxury yacht also has a wooden sculpture on the bow modeled after Lauren Sanchez, his then-girlfriend, now wife.
The superyacht has a $75 million support vessel, Abeona, although the report has not confirmed whether Abeona is also part of the deal. Operating the two ships together costs $30 million annually.The word “koro” in Maori means “ring” or “coil”, and is based on the spiral shape of a silver fern frond, like a pendant – a special symbol for the couple. Bezos also previously mentioned on his Instagram account that “koro” symbolizes new beginnings.
Kuru, a 417-foot ship, is only second in size in the world, with David Geffen’s Rising Sun being slightly larger at 453 feet. In 2025, the Kourou ship was prevented from docking in Monaco due to its huge size. Even the yacht did not come close to the lake where Bezos and Sanchez married in Venice. The couple had a separate foam party on board the yacht during the festivities.

In 2022, when Kourou was scheduled to be delivered to Bezos, there were plans to dismantle a 95-year-old bridge called De Hive so the massive ship could pass through.
After protests from local residents, the masts were taken down.In 2023, the New York Times reported that Kuru was too old to anchor in the Florida Everglades, and was instead hanging around oil tankers and much less well-known container ships.The luxury yacht has three towering masts and several decks, including one with a swimming pool.However, Kuro was part of the couple’s world tour where they sailed around the world on Kuro and partied with celebrity friends like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Usher and more.
