Rahul thanked the people of Kerala for the mandate for the Congress-led United Democratic Front and congratulated the alliance workers and leaders.

According to the Election Commission of India, the United Democratic Front has won or is leading in about 87 seats. In the alliance, the Congress leads or has won 63 seats, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) 22 seats, and the Kerala Congress (JACOP) and the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPOI) one seat each.

He further said that the government formed by the United Democratic Front can harness the “talent” and “potential” of Kerala. “As I said before, Kerala has talent, Kerala has potential and now the Keralam UDF government has a vision to harness both. I look forward to seeing my family in Kerala soon,” he said.

“The road to democracy and truth is long and arduous”: Congress

Meanwhile, the Congress thanked the people of Kerala for the win in the state, but said the results in other states did not live up to its expectations. However, the party said it would not give up and would continue to fight for its ideology.

“The Indian National Congress expresses its profound gratitude to the people of Kerala for giving the United Democratic Front the opportunity to act with a resounding majority,” Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge of communications, said in a post on X. “We recognize our responsibility and pledge to live up to the trust reposed in us by the people of Kerala.”

Regarding the results in other states, he said: “Except for Kerala, the election results elsewhere were below our expectations. However, we are neither disappointed nor depressed.” Ramesh said the party was waging an “ideological struggle.”

“The path of struggle for democracy and truth against tyranny and falsehood is always long and arduous. However, we will continue to move forward with unwavering determination and unwavering resolve,” he said, adding that Congress will soon conduct an analysis of the results. Ramesh said that the process of sending observers for this purpose has already begun.

While the Congress is on track to secure a majority in Kerala, it failed to unseat the BJP in Assam, and was unable to deliver a strong performance in West Bengal and Puducherry.
