Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently shared a thoughtful memoir about his decades-long journey in cinema, offering an insight into how time and experience shape an actor’s craft. With more than 55 years in the acting business, including more than 50 years as a professional, the actor spoke about how the passage of time transforms not only the performance, but also the face of the artist.Sharing a black and white selfie on his Instagram account, Anupam Kher reflected on how years of work and surveillance are beginning to reflect on a physical level. “A face that has lived life: I have been acting for over 55 years. Of these, I have been a professional actor for over 50 years.”He explained how expressions naturally evolve over time. “The actor’s face slowly ceases to be just a face. It becomes…a reservoir. A small twitch begins to mean something.
Raising an eyebrow slightly carries a memory. Pausing between two expressions carries with it a lifetime of observation.”
Khair attributed this transformation to what he described as “lived experience.” He wrote: “It is about what we call ‘lived experience’. The roles I played… the people I met… the feelings I borrowed… and those I really felt.” He added, stressing the authenticity: “The whole matter is settled.
Gently…on your face. Yesterday, when I took this selfie, these were the thoughts that came to my mind.
I thought I should share them with you. Jay Ho!”
Anupam Kher’s legacy has been built through iconic roles
