Meryl Streep talks about working with Lady Gaga
The three-time Oscar winner didn’t stop at a single word. “She’s fun and fun and willing to improvise endlessly,” Streep said of Gaga, 40, who also contributed three songs to the film’s soundtrack. “She is an amazing, amazing musician and a first-class artist. An amazing actress.”
“I loved working with her,” she added simply. In the film, Gaga plays an honest version of herself who clearly has a problem with Streep’s famous character, Miranda Priestly. Their scene together, set at Milan Fashion Week, sees Gaga confronting Priestley before performing at an Italian fashion show. After Priestley leaves, Gaga’s character turns to her hair and makeup team and whispers, “Who let her in here?”
Anne Hathaway’s sweet words for Lady Gaga
Hathaway, 43, was equally effusive in her praise. “I want to mention one more thing about it that I was really pleased with,” she said. “I was so impressed by how humble she was. She was really nice to everyone, and spoke so nicely. She cared so much, and there was never an attitude. There wasn’t anything like, ‘I’ve got three takes, and then I’m out.’ I think she was on a world tour at the time!”“She was amazing in every way a person could be,” Hathaway concluded.
It was Meryl Streep who made the call to Lady Gaga
As it turns out, fans have Streep to thank for Gaga’s appearance in the entire movie. During her recent appearance on Heart Breakfast, Streep revealed that she had personally contacted the singer to ask her to participate, much to the surprise of her co-stars.“That’s me. Thank you. You’re welcome,” she told a shocked Blunt. “I just said, ‘Are you going to do this?’ Because it would be really good.” And she said: “Yes!” Streep said, snapping her fingers. “Just like that. She’s on her world tour, which lasted a year, played in front of 75,000 people in a stadium, and she just left and did us.”“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is now in theaters.
