The actor said his work and the pressures of living in the public eye became more difficult when alcohol was part of the picture.“Drinking was something that was ultimately getting in the way of my career. Being an actor and living your life on the big stage can be really stressful. And I think alcohol, for me personally, really exacerbated that problem. And since I got off the booze and feel more like myself and wake up with a clear head every day and refreshed to start the day, I feel more confident in who I am as a person,” he told USA Today.

Holland had previously spoken about his relationship with alcohol on Jay Shetty’s podcast in 2023. He said that the first month after quitting smoking was more difficult than he expected. His cravings for alcohol made him realize that he had developed an unhealthy dependence on alcohol.
