Yash describes 'Ramayana' as a 'story about humanity'. He admits that playing Ravana was

Yash attended CinemaCon to promote his upcoming film ‘Ramayana’ and didn’t hold back on any of the details. The actor, who plays the villain Ravana, opposite Lord Rama played by Ranbir Kapoor, gave a new look to his upcoming mythological film.In an interview with Collider, the actor was asked why he wanted to be a part of the film, which people in the West may not be familiar with or his story. Speaking about bringing the story to a global audience, Yash said: “This is a story that has survived for 5,000 years. It is part of our culture. It is our history. So when a country is so close to this story, so close to the people, it means something because it has survived for so long.”

“It really holds such importance.”Opening up about what he would like to share with Western audiences, he added, “I think it’s a story about humanity. It’s a story about how a person, in any situation, should act with grace.”Yash, who will play the antagonist Ravana, explained that the film focuses on the life and ideals of Lord Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu, and how his ideals and journey can resonate with everyone.

Highlighting the difficult life of Lord Rama, he said: “If you see the life of Rama, Lord Rama faced incredible problems in his life in India after being born into a privileged family. He was going to be born into a royal family, but he started losing everything, and he takes it all safely.

The way he lived his life became an example to follow. So I think it will connect with everyone. It’s a universal emotion. I think they will test that.

It will really help them understand life in a deeper way.”The actor also addressed the scale of the project, which is being developed as a two-part film series. “It’s very difficult,” he admitted, describing the experience. He also went on to state that although the Nitesh Tiwari directorial has a lot of “technology involved” in the shoot, he went on to share the process of making the film saying, “There is a lot of rehearsals, or you do a lot of experimental shoots and costumes.

It takes a lot of time for hair and makeup. So it actually demands a lot from each actor, but at the same time it’s also great.Sharing his love for the craft of acting, he told the portal, “Only if you become an actor, you will get all these opportunities. Since I love this profession, as they say, you start loving the things to do. I take it, so I enjoy the process.”The ambitious project, which is still in production, will hit the big screen on Diwali 2026.
