Long before he became a household name, ‘Tumbbad 2’ actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was just another National School of Drama (NSD) student trying to survive the institute’s legendary Holi celebrations. On May 2, 2026, the actor shared a hilarious and surreal trip down memory lane, recalling the time when a cup of thandai turned him into a legendary warrior.

Speaking to Nasha Radio official, Nawazuddin Siddiqui described the traditional preparations that take place during the Holi festival in NSD. He talked about how to prepare thandai and share it among the students.“There is a tradition at NSD on Holi, where experts gather to prepare thandai,” Siddiwi said, recalling that moment. “The first time I had thandai, they kept pouring it into my mouth, and I kept drinking. At first, I didn’t feel anything. After about an hour, they urged me to eat more, which I did.”

That’s when I became Ashwatthama. I started imagining that I had a bow and arrow, climbing trees, jumping walls, and performing non-stop for about five hours.

“The experience quickly escalated from fun to intense. The actor found himself completely immersed in the effects of the drink.

The episode did not end with that active phase. Traces of Bhang remained with him for several more hours. During this time, his thoughts took an unusual turn.

He believed that leaving the circle he had drawn would affect his future. In his opinion, exceeding these limits could end his chances in cinema. This belief added another strange dimension to the already strange experience.

‘Tumbbad 2’ gets official release date

On the professional front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is part of the upcoming sequel of Tumbbad. The new film, titled “Tumbbad 2,” continues the haunting world introduced previously. The project will see Sohum Shah returning to play his role. Nawazuddin joins the cast.The makers have confirmed that the film will hit theaters on December 3, 2027. The tagline written in Devanagari reads: “Pralay aayega (The end of the world will arrive).”
