Peacock is developing a scripted series based on one of the most high-profile serial murder cases of the recent past.

NBCUniversal is working with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and writer Jordan Hawley on a drama about the Gilgo Beach murders on New York’s Long Island. The project comes from Universal Studio Group’s UCP and Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television. It is based on Jackson’s docuseries, Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secretswhich debuted on Peacock last year. Originally three episodes, the series released part four on April 23 – two weeks after Rex Heuerman, 62, pleaded guilty to murdering eight women and disposing of their bodies along Gilgo Beach.

Hawley (A million little thingsNetflix Sex/life) is writing the project and will executive produce with Jackson.

The description for the potential series reads: “For 30 years, a Long Island serial killer has stalked in the shadows of suburbia – evading law enforcement by living an ordinary double life. When investigators finally solve the case, his devoted wife and children are forced to confront the man they thought they knew, now revealed to be a sadistic killer. Inspired by the Emmy-nominated docuseries.” Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secretsthis series is based on the true story of the decades-long stalking and disintegration of the family he left behind.

The Gilgo Beach case, also known as the Long Island Serial Murders, has been the subject of a number of documentaries and true crime news magazine programs as well as House of secretsas well as some written footage. Netflix has streamed the Liz Garbus-directed film Missing Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer docuseries in 2025. CBS’s 48 Hours and NBC’s Dateline have devoted episodes to the case in the past, and ID released a seven-episode podcast titled Revealed: Long Island serial killer in 2021. Garbus also directed the 2020 Netflix feature film, Lost girlsbased on a 2013 book about the murders.
