The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday ordered re-polling at 15 booths in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on May 2, including 11 in Magrat Paschim and four in Diamond Harbour.

The Election Commission received requests for re-polling in a total of 77 booths in four constituencies after the second phase of polling, although it remains unclear whether voting will be requested again in the remaining 62 booths.

What is happening?
The Election Commission is considering re-poll applications in the remaining 62 booths in four Assembly constituencies in South 24 Parganas district after the second phase of the West Bengal elections held on April 29, officials said on Thursday.
Based on these reports, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has instructed Special Controller Subrata Gupta to conduct ground inspections before taking any decision.
The Election Commission will take the final decision on the re-poll after Gupta submits his findings.
