Rahul Roy, the actor who became a household name in the popular 1990 romantic drama ‘Aashiqui’, has spoken out after a series of clips featuring him alongside content creator Dr Vanita Ghadge Desai went viral on social media.

Rahul Roy reveals Financial dynasty Of legal issues after a stroke
Rahul Roy took to Instagram on Wednesday, where he shared a heartfelt note addressing online chatter head-on. He explained that the legal issues that are burdening him financially predate his stroke and that he is working to manage them on his own terms.“I do my job with honesty and humility. I have some legal matters that I have to pay for, and these are not from today, but from before the stroke occurred.”Rahul did not hold back when addressing those who mocked him online. Instead of remaining defensive, he flipped the lens, arguing that making fun of someone’s hardships reflects poorly on the person spreading it, not the person enduring it.“If you make fun of my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it doesn’t say a lot about me but a lot about you.
If you are really interested, help me find a real, decent job so I can pay for these cases. At least I make money by working hard, not by making fun of others.”
Rahul Roy shares why it’s important to stay active
Rahul Roy also spoke about the importance of staying active post his recovery, describing work as something that gives him purpose and mental strength, and made it clear that no amount of online ridicule will stop him.“After a stroke, it’s important for me to stay active.
I want to work as long as I live. It keeps my mind active and gives me a sense of purpose and responsibility that I still work on today. “Yes, it might hurt a little sometimes, but you can’t break me.”
More about the controversy
The controversy started earlier this week when multiple reels of Rahul Roy with Dr. Vanita Ghadge Desai started circulating online. One clip showed him dancing to the song “Tere Dar Pe Sanam” from his 1993 film “Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi”, in which he starred opposite Pooja Bhatt. While a section of viewers expressed genuine concern, others dismissed the videos as disturbing, and trolling ensued. Rahul made his Bollywood debut opposite Anu Agarwal in Mahesh Bhatt’s Aashiqui and was last seen on the big screen in Kanu Behl’s Agra (2025). His last television appearance was in the first season of Bigg Boss.
