Malcolm in the middle Actor Justin Berfield feels bad that Eric Pere Sullivan was getting public attention even after he opted out of the series’ 2026 revival.
During his appearance on Tuesday Howie Mandel does things podcast, Howie Mandel asked Bearfield if he thinks Dewey, Sullivan’s character from the original show, regrets not being a part of Malcolm in the middle: Life’s still unfair.
“No. I know they asked him a whole bunch,” he said. “They asked him four or five times, and every time he said, ‘No.’”
Mandel asked Berfield to text Sullivan while filming the podcast, and he said he didn’t know if he would respond, noting, “I think he just got out of work. We all love him, no hard feelings.” Although Sullivan did not repeat what he did Malcolm That hasn’t stopped the public’s interest in what he’s been doing since leaving the entertainment industry, said Berfield, the revival personality.
“He’s a good guy. I love Eric. I actually feel bad because he wants to stay away from work and I’ve been seeing paparazzi shots of him,” he said. “And I say, ‘Leave Eric alone. He didn’t want to come back on the show. No hard feelings.’
Bryan Cranston, who played the father Malcolm in the middlepreviously highlighted his conversations with Sullivan after learning that a reboot was officially in the works.
“I talked to Eric and said, ‘We’ve got the offer! He’ll be back.’ He says, “Oh, that’s great!” I said, “Yes, so we look forward to having you back.” He says: Oh, no, no, I don’t want to do that. But it’s great to be, Cranston said. “He’s actually going to Harvard. He’s really smart, and I think he’s getting his master’s degree at Harvard now. He said, ‘Oh my God, no, I haven’t done acting since I was nine or something. So I’m not interested in that.’
Caleb Ellsworth Clark took on the role of Dewey in the film Malcolm in the middle: Life’s still unfair. Cranston and Burfield reprized their roles from the original show, while Jane Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson, and Frankie Muniz also returned.
