After dating for a few years, Kritika Kamra tied the knot with Gaurav Kapoor in an intimate ceremony at their home in Mumbai on March 11, 2026. Now, in a recent conversation, the actress opened up about love, relationships and why she chose to keep her wedding simple and personal.
“A lot of clichés about love are true.”
Talking about how her understanding of love has evolved, Kritika admitted that her perspective has changed over time.“A lot has changed. This applies to everything – emotions and life continue to evolve. And when it comes to love, I’ve recently realized that a lot of the clichés are actually true,” she told Miss Maleny.She stressed the importance of friendship in a relationship. “People say that friendship is very important in love, and I completely agree with you.
It’s a great feeling to be with someone who feels like your best friend.”Krittika also rejected the idea of opposites attracting. She added: “I think you need to have more in common to enjoy someone’s company, to live with them and to understand them. Attraction doesn’t always take that into account, but compatibility is important. Your heart and head have to be in alignment, it’s not just fun and games.”
“We grew up in love together”
When Kritika was asked who realized her feelings first, she said it was not a specific moment.
“I don’t know. We never discussed who went down first. It just evolved naturally. It started with great friendship and instant chemistry, but realizing this was someone I wanted to be with for life took time. As the relationship developed, it happened almost simultaneously for both of us.”

Why did she choose an intimate wedding?
Kritika also spoke about her decision to have a simple wedding, away from the trend of grand celebrity celebrations.“We were pretty sure we didn’t want a destination wedding. Mumbai has a special place in our hearts, so we wanted to do something at home,” she said.The ceremony was deliberately kept small. “We only wanted people who were very close to us. That was intentional. Later, we had a larger party with more friends joining in, but overall it was still very personal.”
“It wasn’t for the aesthetics”
Explaining her choice further, Kritika said that comfort is key.“I realized I couldn’t do the whole wedding routine in the morning and evening. We just wanted a big celebration where everyone could have a good time – friends, family, kids and adults. At some point, people were relaxing in different corners, doing their own things. And we weren’t just hosts, we were part of it.”She added that being in the industry already exposes them to magic. “We attend big events, wear designer clothes, and walk red carpets. So we didn’t feel the need to base our wedding around that theme. It wasn’t about beauty — it just wasn’t a priority. It felt personal, and I’m glad it happened that way.”
