Prada 2 It is a sequel to the 2006 drama film, based on the 2003 novel by Loren Weisberger, which grossed a whopping $327 million at the global box office and became a pop culture phenomenon.
The long delay in producing a sequel to such a financially successful and culturally influential film is known to be due to the reluctance of the lead actors to return. Meryl Streep, who plays demanding fashion magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly in the current series, and Anne Hathaway, who plays ambitious young journalist Andy Sachs, have both publicly objected to a sequel for years.
Streep and Hathaway both return, as do Emily Blunt, who played Emily Charlton, Miranda’s first assistant in the original film, and Stanley Tucci, who played Miranda’s fashion manager and Andy’s mentor.
The plot of Part 2 focuses on Miranda and Andy’s attempts to bring August Runway Magazine Return to its relevance in the new digital media era. They must seek help from Emily, who has become a power broker and works for a luxury fashion house with deep pockets.
In addition to the core cast of Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci, Oscar-winner Justin Theroux and Kenneth Branagh are major new additions, with Theroux playing Emily’s boyfriend and Branagh as Miranda’s new husband. Patrick Bramall, Caleb Heron, Helen J. Sheen, Pauline Chalamet, PJ Novak, Conrad Ricamora and Rachel Bloom also join the cast. Donatella Versace, Lady Gaga, Ciara, Callum Harper and Ashley Graham make cameos.
David Frankel, who directed the first film, returns to direct the second film, as does screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna.

It’s hard to imagine anyone who was a fan of the first film being disappointed with THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2. It’s funny, charming, and full of truly heartwarming rewards. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to their roles as if it’s not time yet… pic.twitter.com/9Wi9FMI6or

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has no right to be as good as it is. With the right kind and number of callbacks and earned nostalgia, Anne Hathaway is still our most colorful star. It’s funny and deeper, and we get the return of “Vogue.” pic.twitter.com/6xTcfgnmND

Gird your loins: I didn’t like #TheDevilWearsPrada2. Far from shining a well-intentioned spotlight on the deteriorating state of journalism, the narrative fails to resonate. It felt like a series of loosely connected story whims. No suspense, but beautiful sequins everywhere. pic.twitter.com/ZHC4hR7cfS

amazing. I actually liked The Devil Wears Prada 2.
I say that as someone who watched the first movie and hated it. Like the book, it’s essentially a cautionary tale and moral about a woman being punished for her ambition, which is one of the tropes I hate the most.

For everyone who was assuming Devil Wears Prada 2 was going to be bad good…
…You are wrong. It is often clever, poignant, and unexpectedly funny. Be prepared to be surprised!

#TheDevilWearsPrada2 is the perfect summer movie. And while the original enticed us with broad ambition, this sequel arrives completely coherent – sharper, wiser, and cloaked in the kind of confidence that can’t be bought, only earned. Meryl, Anne and Emily are exceptional… pic.twitter.com/RR5Ey7DN6O

#TheDevilWearsPrada2 is better than most of the prequels, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and the crew effortlessly returning to their characters. The speed was blurry, but engaging! Transforms fashion. Funny, charming and timely with its plot about the shrinking state of media. pic.twitter.com/E78LBoxUN

The Devil Wears PRADA 2 is a slightly frictionless film high on its own stock of raspberry juice, but I was happy to see my friends Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt together again

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2: I probably enjoyed this somewhat more than the original once I got over my disappointment that not only does Kenneth Branagh play Miranda’s husband like a man from Tenet, but he doesn’t even speak with a ridiculous Russian accent!

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a whirlwind of emotions but it holds them back in the most vulnerable way possible. It’s catchy, clever and hits close to home if you have an artistic itch. The quartet hits every note beautifully – Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci are great.… pic.twitter.com/pB9sRIxEwk

I wasn’t expecting parts of #TheDevilWearsPrada2 to feel like a documentary about the dire state of journalism. I’m glad that mainstream film is about this urgent reality. In general, I am more muted in my reaction than my colleagues. Still, it’s nice to see you again, Blue Jacket. pic.twitter.com/FZmFgEKjrv

#TheDevilWearsPrada2 is an acceptable and tangible step back from the original.
It’s amazing to see Hathaway, Streep, Blunt, and Tucci back as these characters. It’s fun. The story lacks the painful human connection of the OG. Much more boring and much less interesting. pic.twitter.com/90IEGSZCTz

I’m amazed that the sequel to a studio hit of the summer basically said “support your publications and journalists who are the true arbiters of taste” – and still manages to be a relatively great movie. If no one could reach us, DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 could reach us. More coming soon. pic.twitter.com/R6beGDM4L7

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 is a sharp and honest film. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and the returning cast seamlessly return to their roles without missing a beat. Her commentary on the press is funny and, perhaps, very relevant to today’s culture. #TheDevilWearsPrada2 pic.twitter.com/n4mobBW9OZ

The Devil Wears PRADA 2 offers much of the same joy found in its predecessor, though this film opts for a more poignant commentary on the media landscape. He replaces that with less engaging characters, but the cast is still charming. A little forced but entertaining. pic.twitter.com/KUv06KaOGS

The Devil Wears Prada 2: Stanley Tucci made me cry twice. I loved it. There are no notes.

#TheDevilWearsPrada2 is a quality comedy that focuses on the era we live in when it comes to media consumption and art. The actors return to their roles as if no time has passed at all. And that soundtrack. Fans of Lady Gaga, Doshi, SZA, and Lovi will love it! pic.twitter.com/4itFvJPO8E

#TheDevilWearsPrada2 is gorgeous and dare I say? Better than the original! Fun with an honest touch about how journalism is important now more than ever. The cast has been developed Completely more dynamic! While it follows a familiar template, there seems to be a greater meaning. pic.twitter.com/brDa657Dph

I’m not as much of a fan of fashion or glamor as I was 20 years ago, but they did a very good job of updating the characters in Prada 2, and it just underscores the genius in casting the four main actors over 20 years ago. The story gets a bit predictable, but there were some nice moments.

I really had fun with The Devil Wears Prada 2.
A rare legacy sequel that doesn’t spoil its plot update. It maintains the spirit of the original film, often has the same visual look and simply provides a good time at the movies. pic.twitter.com/rS8kSjtD8Y

The Devil Wears Prada 2’s reactions seem incredibly muted.
The general consensus seems to be: it’s okay, the story is timely but this sequel isn’t really necessary or worth the wait.
Of course, it’s no surprise that the cast is great since all the main actors are Hollywood icons and…

The Devil Wears Prada 2: A scathing media parody wrapped in high fashion. Every journalist who saw this would cringe at admitting it.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 is a fun and fierce sequel that makes a statement. Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep return to their iconic roles with ease and provide service in every frame. It feels familiar in the best way, timely in the right ways, and worth the wait. pic.twitter.com/oD1RUSEkID
