Mitchell Stark, Lungi Ngidi
Delhi Capitals did not have much time to recover after their heavy defeat to Punjab Kings as they prepare to take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their next match in IPL 2026 on Monday.Delhi lost by six wickets to Punjab Kings despite scoring 264 runs, as PBKS completed the highest successful run chase in IPL history. The result left the capital under pressure in the deciding race. The team currently sits in sixth place in the points table, and another defeat could make their path to the playoffs more difficult. So far this season, Delhi’s batting has been strong, but their bowling has been inconsistent. The top order led by KL Rahul gave the team fast starts in many matches. Nitish Rana and David Miller also helped keep the scoring rate high in the middle overs. But the biggest worry is with the bowling unit, especially after failing to defend 264 against Punjab Kings.Delhi is expected to make changes in their bowling attack for the match against RCB.Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi is unlikely to play after the head injury he suffered in the previous match against Punjab Kings.Ngidi was taken from the field in an ambulance after he fell badly while trying to catch the ball. His condition is now stable and he has been discharged from the hospital.
Will Stark play today?
Another setback for Delhi is the absence of Mitchell Starc.Starc has already joined Delhi Capitals, but is not available for selection yet and will only be available from the beginning of May.Among the reserves, Kyle Jamieson and Dushmantha Shamira remain alternative options for Lungi Ngidi.Delhi are now entering an important phase of the season where they cannot afford any more mistakes. For Royal Challengers Bengaluru, this is also a big opportunity.RCB will be looking to settle the scores from the reverse fixture and strengthen their position in the race for the top two spots.
