Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday said the Congress leadership would take decisions on Karnataka, rejecting suggestions of internal differences within the party. He said he and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would accept it whenever decisions are taken amid reports of a possible change in leadership as the government approaches three years in power.

“I already said that when the time comes, you will recognize [about the decision on the Karnataka leadership]. “So I will not tell you,” he said, refusing to reveal details of his discussions with party leaders after his return from Delhi.

He stressed that there are no problems and that they trust their party and will do what they have to do. “they [the Congress leadership] “They will do what they have to do at the right time,” he said.

He responded to reports of a possible change in leadership as the government approaches three years in power, stressing that he had never discussed the matter. “I never discussed this issue. The prime minister and I said that we will accept anything and whenever the high command decides, we will stick to it,” he said.

There has been fresh speculation about a leadership change in recent months, especially after the government completed half of its five-year term in November 2025. Reports indicate such a power-sharing understanding at the time of the government’s formation.

Shivakumar warned party workers against putting up banners on his birthday on May 15, saying: “…No one should put up banners or advertisements on the occasion of my birthday. If the banners are installed, I will ensure that cases are registered against the officials, whether they are party workers or its followers…No one should put such things on the roads. This is my personal request.” He added that instructions had been issued to civil authorities to impose fines for violations.

Shivakumar, who met Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi on April 25 to discuss plans for Bengaluru and other cities, said the Karnataka government has proposed 1,082 projects at an estimated cost. $1.25 million crores. He said that the Union government had allocated $1 lakh crore under the Urban Challenge Fund, incl $5000 Crores for Karnataka. “Certain criteria have been identified, and we have submitted proposals for 1,082 projects out of the total project cost $The Center is expected to contribute Rs 1.25 lakh crore $“Rs 32,000-35,000 crore,” he said.

He said the state is ready to use additional funds if other states do not benefit from their share.
