“In prison, I asked everyone around me, who might be interested in watching it. The 4,000 prisoners said they would all do so. I asked them all to write one page about it (the new ‘Khalnayak’ story), and it took me some time to read all 4,000 pages.

When I came out on parole, I asked Subhash sir to pass it on. Then he said, “It should be done.”

While sharing the ad, he wrote: “Kuch kahaani khatam nahi hoti…woh dobara shuru hoti hai. khalnayak returns.” Although casting and release details are still under wraps, the reveal has already brought back memories of the classic film that remains deeply rooted in popular culture.

Dutt also revealed two posters showing his look in the film, one showing him smoking with a fierce expression, and the other capturing a menacing smile. The caption read: “Har kahaani ka ek waqt hota hai…aur uska waqt aa gaya hai. ‘Khalnayak is back’.”
