Social media erupted with criticism after the Pakistan Super League pulled off a pre-match drama during the clash between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars. Even before the first ball was thrown, the mascot’s scripted brawl at the throw attracted attention, leaving players, commentators, and fans entertained.A light ‘fight’ soon broke out between the mascots, as captains David Warner and Shaheen Shah Afridi struggled to contain their laughter. However, it was commentator Rameez Raja who stole the limelight with his witty and theatrical narration.“Don’t spoil the playground!” – Ramez adds comedy goldAs the characters battled near the field, Ramez turned the moment into pure entertainment with his humorous comment:“Well, it’s called El Clásico. We have the Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars battling it out before the draw.
I think there was little quarreling, nothing serious. I just…don’t spoil the pitch, please. I think that’s enough. Enough guys, enough, you can leave now. We can have the regular draw now.
The humor continued when he turned to Warner and added:“There’s a little trailer for you, David. In case you’re not aware of the Lahore-Karachi rivalry, we’ve released a trailer for you.”While the moment entertained many, social media had mixed reactions. Many fans trolled the PSL for what they described as unnecessary and “overblown” action, questioning the need for theatrical drama before a high-profile match. However, others enjoyed the lighthearted build-up, calling it a fun way to highlight the rivalry.
