Septagram: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the state government led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that once the BJP comes to power, issues like ‘love jihad’ and ‘land jihad’ brewing in the state under ‘TMC rule’ will end.

Addressing a public meeting in Saptgram, Shah also said that farmers and state government employees would benefit from the schemes that the BJP will come up with after coming to power.

“Both love jihad and land jihad will end. Government employees will get benefits of 7th Pay Commission and DA. Farmers will be given $9000 instead of $6000 under Kisan Samman Nidhi. Retirement pensions will be determined for widows, the elderly and the disabled $2000. The BJP will also work to free us from the union.”

Referring to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharji’s “terrorist statement”, Shah said: “Kharji ji says Modi ji is a terrorist. Kharji sahab, shame on you, the man who dedicated his entire life to ending terrorism, you call him a terrorist. The public will settle the entire score.”

Once again, Shah raised the issue of infiltration and said, “Modi ji liberated this country from terrorism and Naxalism. Today I say as I move forward, BJP will also liberate this country from infiltrators.”

He also raised the issue of border fencing, alleging delays on the part of the state government.

“The Border Security Forces need 600 acres of land to build the fence. Mamata Didi is not giving it. I promise you that if you form a BJP government, we will accomplish the task of handing over the entire land to the Border Security Forces to build the fence within 45 days,” Shah said.

He added, “Hackers are seizing jobs, consuming resources intended for the poor, and threatening the country’s internal security.”

Shah also accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of corruption. “Mamata Banerjee is involved in a large number of scams $10,000 Crores. They believe that nothing will happen to them. On May 5, the BJP will form the government and Didi will have to return the money it has devoured through various scams.”

Attacking the ruling Trinamool Congress, Shah said, “Don’t be afraid of Mamata’s goons. Vote with confidence. BJP will form the government, Mamata’s goons will be sent behind bars.”

He also criticized the state government on women’s safety, saying: “Mamata Didi says mothers should not step out of their homes after 7 pm. You are forming a BJP government, which strengthens Modi’s hands. Even at night, a little girl should be able to go out on her scooter, and no thug should have the courage to even glance at her.”

On welfare promises, Shah said: “Elect the BJP government, I assure you 33% reservation in government jobs for women. Unemployed youth will be rewarded.” $3000 per month in the account. Women will also get this $3000 per month in their account. In entire Bengal, women will be able to travel for free in government buses.”

In Palikokhari, Shah repeated his attack on the ruling party, saying: “Mamata Banerjee is going, the lotus is coming… On the 29th, voting to evict the infiltrators from Bengal… Mamata Banerjee is bringing the infiltrators herself. But on the 5th, the BJP has promised not just Bengal, but all over India, we will pick out the infiltrators and throw them out.” Polling to elect the 294-member Assembly in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on May 4.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the first phase covers 152 Assembly constituencies, while the second phase covers 142 seats.

The state is set to witness a tense contest between the incumbent Trinamool Congress, which is seeking a fourth consecutive term, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which aims to form the government after a strong performance in the previous elections.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is aiming for a fourth consecutive term, while the BJP, which won 77 seats in the previous election, is making a renewed push to form government in the state.
