US President Donald Trump said late Monday that recovering uranium from Iran would be a “long and difficult process” after US strikes last year on nuclear facilities in Tehran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that “Operation Midnight Hammer was the complete and complete obliteration of nuclear fallout sites in Iran.”
He added: “Therefore, extracting it will be a long and difficult process.
“Trump also criticized sections of the US media, writing that “Fake News CNN and other corrupt media networks and platforms fail to give our great Airmen the credit they deserve – always trying to degrade and belittle them – LOSERS!!!”The US President often uses the phrase “nuclear fallout” to describe Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, which Washington claims Tehran collected as part of its efforts to build an atomic bomb.
At times, Trump has also used the term to refer to debris and materials left after US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.Trump has repeatedly stressed that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium will eventually be transferred to American soil, although Tehran has strongly rejected any such proposal. The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied its plans to hand over these materials. The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran on February 28, targeting facilities linked to Tehran’s nuclear program.
Israel said military action was necessary to eliminate what it described as an “existential threat” posed by the Islamic Republic.Israeli officials have since claimed that Iran accelerated its efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon after the 12-day war ended last June. This conflict began with Israeli attacks and later included US air strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including a uranium enrichment plant. Trump told PBS News that “Iran was supposed to be there” at the talks in Pakistan. “We agreed to be there,” he said, warning that if the ceasefire ended, “a lot of bombs would explode.”
