'You are not going to get a Green Card if...': USCIS director warns about opening older cases to send people back

The director of USCIS has issued a new warning to immigration scammers.

USCIS Director Joseph Edlow said scammers and other criminals should be prepared to face consequences as the agency goes after people with green cards. With new special agents, the agency is on track to open multiple tip lines where people can report immigration fraud.

“No tip is too small. We will look into this along with our partners at ICE and with CBP.”

People who commit fraud, stop! Because we will find you. If you’ve already done it and think you’ve gotten away with it, we’ll come back. As I mentioned earlier, we are looking at older cases. “We are going back and re-examining the cases of people who received green cards and other benefits during the Biden administration when there was no examination,” Edlow said.

The USCIS Director added: “Our primary mission is to keep Americans safe. Despite the challenges posed by activist and extremist judges, we remain committed to protecting this country. Keeping America safe is our responsibility – and we will do it without apology.” Edlow said the administration wants people who will not become a burden on the system. “We want people to come to this country who can take care of themselves and not drain the public purse.

“If you can’t pay for yourself and take care of yourself, you won’t get a green card in this country,” Edlow said. The statement came as the administration temporarily suspended immigration and benefits to several countries, and arrested and deported green card holders. Last year, USCIS announced that it would have its own agents who would be allowed to carry firearms and arrest people for civil, criminal, and non-immigration violations. Through its ICE, USCIS now aims to crack down hard as this unit is empowered to initiate investigations, arrest accused individuals, carry firearms, and so on.
