Renault's big plans for India! Bridger Engine revealed 7 cars coming by 2030

François Provost, Renault Global CEO, outlines India’s roadmap.

Renault has laid out a bold future plan for India, as the French automaker aims to make the country one of its top three global markets by 2030. The announcement was made by CEO François Provost, where the company shared details of its upcoming product launches, new platforms and electrification strategy.

Renault India has big plans for the Indian market

As part of this roadmap, Renault plans to introduce seven new models in India by the end of the decade, contributing to a wider global rollout of 36 vehicles. The upcoming range will include a mix of petrol, CNG, hybrid and all-electric models. The company is also targeting a major shift towards cleaner mobility, with electric vehicles expected to make up nearly 50 per cent of its total sales in India by 2030.A key part of this strategy is the introduction of two new platforms.

The first is the RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform), a flexible architecture designed to support multiple powertrains including ICE, CNG, flex-fuel, hybrid and electric. It can accommodate two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, including electric all-wheel drive. This platform will support body styles such as SUVs, hatchbacks and MPVs, with five- and seven-seat designs.

Renault says the platform will be 90 per cent India-specific.

The second structure, RGEP (Renault Group Entry Platform), will focus on affordable offerings. It is expected to serve as a base for future compact cars, including successors to models such as the Renault Kiger and Renault Triber. This platform will support petrol and CNG engines along with AMT and CVT gearbox options, and will cater to vehicles in the sub-4m segment, which range from approximately 3.7m to 3.95m in length.

Renault Bridger launch schedule revealed

Renault’s next wave of products will be the Bridger SUV, which is expected to make its debut in India around late 2027. The Bridger is initially set to launch with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, but has been developed with future electrification in mind. Renault has already confirmed that all-electric versions of the SUV are in the pipeline, and the electric vehicle is likely to become the brand’s first all-electric offering in India.

It is worth noting that India will be the first market globally to receive Bridger.Beyond product launches, Renault is also looking to strengthen its role as an export hub. The company targets annual exports worth €2 billion from India by 2030.
