Archana Puran Singh pointed out that even though photo shoots are scheduled for a certain duration, they rarely end on time. According to her, work days often extend for more than 12 hours and can extend to 13-14 hours, often without proper rest periods.“Even then, they expect us to extend our working hours to 13-14 hours and skip lunch breaks. This is just kind of kanjusi. Kanjusi is a mentality… How can you not allow the light men, who carry their equipment and stand in the sun for hours, to eat? They don’t have helpers like us who bring them fruit.
“It’s terrible,” she told News18.She added that within the industry, some production houses have developed a reputation for being particularly restrictive around food, with crew members casually referring to them based on their economy – something she believes reflects a deeper, longer-term mindset.
