Yash on humanizing Ravana in 'Ramayana': 'It's important for people to connect with him'

Yash announced ‘Ramayana’ at CinemaCon and his fans couldn’t be happier. The actor, who has been making headlines all week thanks to his unfiltered interactions with the Los Angeles media, is back in the top trends on social media after he shared an interesting side about his character.

The actor, who will play the villain Ravana in the mythological epic, shared new details about his approach to portraying the grey-hued character.

Speaking to a news channel, the actor admitted that adapting the legendary character to the global audience was a challenge. According to a video shared online, Yash said, “I have tried to capture the essence of Ravana and make it as human as possible. Sometimes it’s important for people to connect with him, especially because we have global ambitions (for the film), so we need to make it relatable to Western audiences as well.”

Yash talks about the challenges of playing Ravana

The actor emphasized that director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra were equally concerned about preserving the cultural and spiritual significance attached to the character. He explained, “The story should not deviate from people’s belief system. It was a big challenge but I enjoyed playing this character, because it has a lot of shades and it is a dream for any actor to play his role.”

Ramayana movie cast and release date

Yash will play the role of Ravana, opposite Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Although in another interaction, the actor admitted that while the film is setting up his character to take on Ranbir’s Lord Ram, the two will not be sharing any scenes in the first part of the film which is scheduled to release on Diwali. According to the actor, the film is eyeing an October-end release.
