Eight people were killed in a gas pipeline explosion in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: At least eight people, including a woman and a girl, were killed in a gas pipeline explosion in an industrial area in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday, an official of the 1122 Rescue Service said.The accident occurred at Hattar Industrial Estate in Haripur district.According to Rescue 1122 sources, the explosion occurred near a mill along the Grand Trunk Road, where a powerful explosion in a gas pipeline sparked a massive fire.It also set fire to a nearby house, intensifying damage and complicating rescue efforts.At least four women and six children have been rescued so far, while the fire continued to spread rapidly, a Haripur district police officer said.Many women and children were seriously injured, and emergency teams are continuing rescue operations as they work to control the fire.Haripur Deputy Commissioner Waseem Ahmed said the deaths appeared to be mainly caused by suffocation.
