Most parts of Rajasthan are likely to witness mainly dry weather over the next three to four days, with a slight rise in temperatures and a possibility of heatwave in some areas, the Meteorological Department said on Thursday.

However, a weak western disturbance is expected to impact parts of the state on April 17, bringing light rain and thunderstorm activity with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Bikaner and adjoining districts. He said.

The department said rainfall during the first week is likely to remain below normal, while it may be around normal in the second week.

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius in the coming days, with the possibility of a heatwave in isolated places. In parts of the western state of Rajasthan, temperatures may range between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius, which will be 3-4 degrees above normal.

During the first week, maximum temperatures are likely to remain 2-3 degrees above normal, while in the second week, they may remain 1-2 degrees above normal, with a heatwave possible in some places.

Minimum temperatures are also expected to remain 1-2 degrees above normal over the next two weeks, the department said.

On Thursday, Barmer was the hottest place in the state with 42.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Jaisalmer at 42.8 degrees, Churu at 42.4 degrees, and 42 degrees each in Phalodi, Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar. Jaipur recorded 39.8 degrees.

Most places in the state recorded maximum temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius during the day, indicating intensifying hot conditions.
